I have loved children since I was a kid myself. I have made and given away several blanket to children as gifts. They all grew up to not only love the blanket, but love me as well. It's a good way to show a close child in your life that you love them.

Children's Blankets

Children love their blankets. For many young children they are security items. Making children's blankets is a fun craft to do. They are something that the little one will appreciate for years to come. One of the popular children's blankets today is a blanket that is made out of fleece. For an average size blanket, you will need two pieces of material that measures 60 inches by 1 3/4 yards.

It is fun to make one side a solid color and the other a print. Many of the characters are available to be bought from Sponge Bob, Spiderman to Disney's Ariel or Winnie the Pooh. For the older child, you can buy material with their favorite team printed on them. Once you have bought your material, align the two pieces insides together on the floor or large table. Cut a 4 x 4 inch square out of each corner. Go around the edges and cut slits of both materials about four inches deep spacing about every inch or so.

After you have cut all the edges, go back around the blanket and tie the two cut pieces in a square knot. Voila, your blanket is done. Children enjoy crocheted or knitted blankets as well. With crocheting and knitting, you can personalize them to the child's favorite color or room colors. You can also increase or decrease the size of the blanket. The website www.bevscountrycottage.com and www.freepatterns.com have a large selection of patterns for children's blankets.
